WHEN: Saturday, September 26th from 9:00am - 5:00pmWHERE: Boulder ChamberCOST: $199.00 for Film Commission members, $229.00 for non-members
This exciting class will focus on producing for the commercial and short-form content world, and is taught by Jed Mortenson, owner of Boulder-based Waypoint Films, a commercial and short form production company, specializing in live action production. Jed has been producing (and sometimes directing) for all of Waypoint Films’ 18 years, and long before that as well, including producing several feature films.
We’ll primarily focus on line producing, but will touch on executive producing as well. We’ll discuss the importance of:
- Pre-production: reviewing scripts and storyboards, budgeting, scheduling, location scouting, casting, and other forms of prep.
- Production: We’ll discuss all aspects of crew, locations, production insurance, safety, cameras, and more - and we’ll address all different production scopes - from the 3-person talking head corporate video shoot to the 75-crew member commercial shoot.
- Post production: including how to manage things from wrap on-set to delivery of the finished product to a happy client.
Instructor Bio:
Jed Mortenson fell in love with filmmaking thanks to his parents’ Super 8 camera, some home-made pyrotechnics, and minimal parental supervision. That obsession led him to USC Film School, where he learned how to turn popcorn dreams into actual movies. He cut his teeth in L.A., working with cinematic titans like James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd.Jed spent 15 years in LA working on commercials and feature films. In 2007 he traded smoggy air for thinner air and moved to Boulder, Colorado. There, he launched Waypoint Films, a production company that makes commercials and other short form content. Today, Jed’s still doing what he loves: telling great stories, making beautiful stuff, and occasionally getting to blow something up on camera.
