Community Brainstorm!
to support local businesses
Things suck right now. Let’s make it better.
Forgive the informality, but isn’t it true? Colorado’s lockdown is ending but social distancing will remain in place, probably for several months. Our governor has said this has been the easy part, and it will be a long time before we have a fully open economy. We all know businesses that have been hard hit during this time. Maybe even yours.
We’re in a unique situation. Unlike most economic crashes, businesses are fully functional, demand remains, and money is still there. But the markets have disappeared–for how long, we don’t know.
Let’s recreate markets: We all have heard of the distilleries that pivoted to make hand sanitizer and the sporting goods company that pivoted to make face masks. This type of creativity will get us through the next several months. However, sometimes stepping back and seeing our businesses from a different perspective is hard because we’re so close. Even when we can move unrestricted, things won’t go back to the way they were before.
Here’s what I propose:
- Help brainstorm pivots and new markets for those businesses challenged by social distancing.
- Meet with other business leaders and learn the creative ways they are rising to this occasion.
- Discuss what you think “the new normal” will look like and how to use it to thrive.
Together, let’s kickstart job growth, save businesses, launch businesses, and help move more money through our economy in a time when it is deeply needed.
