Job Title Director of Events and Marketing
Reports To VP and COO
FLSA Exempt
Function This position, in conjunction with the COO, will be responsible for the strategic direction, management and execution of Boulder Chamber Events/Programs and of Boulder Chamber Marketing and Communications.
Responsibilities Events and Programs
  • Responsible for design, management, budgeting, execution and monitoring of the Chamber Events calendar including signature, recurring, and one-off events across all departments including Boulder Economic Council, Advocacy, Member Services and Boulder Together
  • Responsible for design, management, budgeting, execution and monitoring of Chamber Programs including Business Women’s Leadership Group, Bolder Young Professionals and Leadership Fellows
  • Manage the events team and coordinate with subject matter experts from other Chamber departments as appropriate
  • Assist with recommending technology platforms for enhancing event delivery and/or attendee experience
  • Work with Member Relations team to ensure excellence in sponsorship opportunities and deliverables
  • Drive the balance of event excellence and attendee engagement with event financial goals
Marketing and Communications
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining marketing and communications content, calendar, messaging, campaigns, policies, systems and procedures across all departments including Boulder Economic Council, Events, Advocacy, Member Services and Boulder Together
  • Manage the marketing team and coordinate with subject matter experts from other Chamber departments as appropriate
  • Drive unique content and gather appropriate content from members, partners, staff and community/news resources to tell the Chamber story and establish our voice in social media, newsletters, emails, marketing materials, ads, press releases and on the website
  • Determine processes and analytics for targeted communications, audience segmenting, lead generation and monitoring of marketing channel metrics
  • Deliver coordinated content and messaging across a variety of Chamber channels and platforms including print, digital, video, website and social media
  • Assist with recommending technology platforms for marketing and communications strategy implementation.
  • Drive the balance of enhanced brand recognition and awareness with organizational revenue goals

Strategic Planning – participate in annual three-year strategic planning process across the organization, as well as development and management of annual plan of work and calendars for both Events and Marketing
 
Team Management – oversight of work, intra and inter team dynamics and communication, and career development for Events and Marketing teams, including volunteers, interns, contractors and virtual team members
 
Project Management – manage priorities, processes, templates, vendors, contracts, timelines and task deliverables across a variety of overlapping projects on both the Events and Marketing calendars
 
Budgeting and Financial Monitoring – Develop departmental, event and project budgets and drive execution to meet or exceed financial objectives, including trade and contract negotiations
 
Storytelling – use written word and multi-media tools and channels to promote Chamber offerings, services, messaging and overall brand with attention to detail and depth of content
 
Customer Service – maintain a high level of engagement, empathy, problem-solving and communication with internal and external constituents to ensure an excellent experience with the Chamber
 
 
Technological Proficiency – knowledge of comfort with technology including communication and design tools, website tools, social media tools, CRM platforms, video shooting and editing software, and event engagement systems
 
Organizational and Multi-tasking - be able to organize in a thorough and detail-oriented way to carry out various tasks in a fast-paced environment to meet multiple deadlines
Working Conditions Position requires professionalism in appearance and actions, and flexibility to work occasional early morning and evening hours for meetings and events
Typical Physical Demands Operate normal business office equipment.  Must be able to travel efficiently to off-site meeting locations throughout the Boulder area. 
Compensation Depending on experience, plus bonus opportunity
