SUMMARY:Brainstorm: Parenting Book Group
DESCRIPTION:Register here Brainstorm by Daniel J. Siegel\, M.D. Between the ages of 12 and 24\, the brain changes in important\, and oftentimes maddening\, ways. It's no wonder that many parents approach their child's adolescence with fear and trepidation. According to renowned neuropsychiatrist Daniel Siegel\, however\, if parents and teens can work together to form a deeper understanding of the brain science behind all the tumult\, they will be able to turn conflict into connection and form a deeper understanding of one another. In Brainstorm\, Siegel illuminates how brain development impacts teenagers' behavior and relationships. Drawing on important new research in the field of interpersonal neurobiology\, he explores exciting ways in which understanding how the teenage brain functions can help parents make what is in fact an incredibly positive period of growth\, change\, and experimentation in their children's lives less lonely and distressing on both sides of the generational divide. DATES: September 30th\, October 7th & 14th TIME: 6:00 7:30 PM LOCATION: Erie Community Library\, 400 Powers St\, Erie\, CO 80516 FACILITATOR: Dan Fox\, LPC Dan has spent the past 25 years helping adolescents (and their families) with the work of growing into healthy\, happy adults. Note: This book group will be in English with no interpretation. About PEN Parenting Book Groups: Parenting doesn't come with a how-to manual\, but you don't have to figure it out alone. PEN's Parenting Book Groups are a welcoming space where parents and caregivers come together to discuss research-based parenting books\, share experiences\, build meaningful connections\, and learn from one another with the guidance of an experienced facilitator. Through thoughtful conversations\, you'll deepen your understanding of yourself and your child(ren)\, gain practical tools you can use in everyday life\, and discover new perspectives alongside others on the parenting journey. Previous participants describe PEN Parenting Book Groups as a "welcoming\, supportive environment where every voice is heard." Participants leave feeling more confident and better equipped to navigate the joys and challenges of parenting. Books will be available to borrow at no cost from the hosting library. https://parentengagementnetwork.org/event/brainstorm_bookgroup/
