Film Industry
I am a freelance cinematographer who has shot hundreds of high-end commercials, TV shows, sports, and documentaries all over the world for the past 25 years. I've garnered numerous awards including an Academy Award for the feature documentary “The Cove”, as well as numerous Heartland Emmy’s. He owns multiple cinema cameras & drones, & gimbals often known as a “gear head/techie”. Brook has shot in (& been shot at) in the cocaine fields of Colombia, on the jagged ocean cliffs of Japan, the snowy peaks of Patagonia, and on many large studio sets.. My cinematography has had me hanging from helicopters with the military, dangling off 80-foot waterfalls, filming the holy lands of Jerusalem and often filming a simple yet beautifully lit interview. Brook is also a former NCAA ski racer, professional freestyle kayaker, and raced motocross for over 10 years. Clients range from virtually every major national tv network to ad agencies such as Crispin Porter, Satchi & Satchi, Weiden & Kennedy, Cactus Creative, UC Health, Integer Group, Karsh Hagan, Blast Radius, LRXD, Factory Labs, Nike/Jordan Brand, Climate Reality Project (w/ Al Gore) Victor & Spoils, Sterling Rice, Ascent Media, 11 Dollar Bill, Seduced & Exploited, Barkley, Supply & Demand, Deloitte Digital, Fact & Fiction and the list goes on. I am a 2nd -generation DP, following in the footsteps of my father Len Aitken. Graduating from the University of Colorado film school areceiving a BFA in Film Production under noted professors Jerry Aronson & Stan Brakhage. His work on “The Cove” also received professional recognition including a Cinema Eye Award for Best Cinematography, Woods Hole Film Fest Best Cinematography, and three Emmy Awards.
