Event Description:
Are you a business owner, freelancer, or other professional wanting to market your business on social media, but don’t know where to start? This hands-on social media crash course, taught by Madeline Lane, Marketing Director at Lorikeet Creative, breaks down what platforms to use, how to optimize posts for each platform, creating long-term social media strategies, and creating content on a weekly basis to reach your goals. Attendees will leave with a customized social media strategy, 2 weeks of drafted content, and knowledge to sustainably market their business on social media!
Details:
This class will start out by discussing which social media platforms (Linkedin, Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok, X, Bluesky, YouTube) are best for different types of businesses. The instructor will help attendees choose which platforms are best for their needs. The class will then create a long-term social media strategy and brand guide for their business using provided workbooks. This long term strategy will be the road map to follow for the next 6-12 months.
We will then go into a deep-dive of how to optimize posts for each platform and create a content draft for 2 weeks worth of social media posts. The instructor will show students how to write post text for effective social media marketing (and where AI tools might potentially help). We will also cover creating graphics for posts and touch on the basics of video content.
Finally, the class will wrap up with how-to’s on scheduling content across platforms. This important step shares your content with the world, and knowing these insider tips will make it sustainable for your business to continue marketing on social media.
Pre-requisites:
Having some “basic” familiarity with social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook will make this class more beneficial and less frustrating. If you have existing social media accounts please come with the login information for those accounts already in hand. (Account recovery can be very time consuming and can’t be assisted with during this class.) Please bring your laptop (and we’ll have a WiFi network that you can use), along with a usable Google account, i.e. a Gmail personal or business account that you’ll be able to log into (privately of course) during the class. All docs, etc. provided by the instructor will be accessed via Google docs. You’ll also be using Canva or Photoshop during the class, so if you don’t have either, simply set up a free Canva account ahead of time, or a “free trial” Photoshop account ahead of time.
