Before you go, take time to understand the risks. Join Colorado Wilderness Rides & Guides at Limelight Boulder for an Avalanche Awareness Fireside Chat in the Royal Arch room. This free, in-person conversation is designed for skiers, riders, snowshoers, hikers, and winter travelers looking to better understand avalanche risk and make more informed decisions in Colorado’s winter backcountry. 

Every attendee will receive a discount to Limelight's signature bar and grill + a discount to AIARE Avalanche Courses with Colorado Wilderness Rides and Guides. 

This event draws from the nationally recognized Know Before You Go avalanche education curriculum and is led by experienced avalanche professionals. Through real-world examples and guided discussion, we’ll cover foundational concepts that every winter recreationist should understand before heading out. 

What We’ll Cover 

• How avalanches form and why they occur 
• Key terrain and snowpack factors that increase risk 
• Recognizing red flags in winter conditions 
• Decision-making frameworks for safer travel 
• When avalanche education and professional training are essential

No prior avalanche education is required. This is an introductory awareness event, not a certification course.
