1-2-3 The Len Barry Story (20:00)
by Tom Parkin
Leonard Warren Borisoff, known professionally as Len Barry, was an American recording star, vocalist, songwriter, lyricist, record producer, author, and poet. In this documentary short, Len takes us through his musical journey as the lead singer of The Dovells and as a solo artist in the 1960s.
Flame (6:00)
by Katrina Miller
"Flame" is about ancestral healing, and honoring those who have passed due to racial injustice. It is about celebrating the light and resilience that resides in all black people. The video incorporates themes of ancestral healing and the execution behind the costume design, dancers, and filming was all done by companies led by people of color. As the credit track for the award winning film, “This Is [Not] Who We Are,” this music video is packed with powerful visuals and symbolism that speaks to the resilience and beauty of African American people.
Iwo Jima Memories in Sand (27:13)
by Beret Strong and John Tweedy
On February 19, 1945, thousands of U.S. Marines landed on the island of Iwo Jima, entering one of the deadliest battlefields of modern warfare. Nearly half were wounded or killed, and all but a thousand of the Japanese defenders died in the battle. Fifty years later, survivors on both sides of the conflict returned to the island to honor their collective past. Iwo Jima: Memories in Sand is a powerful, lyrical encounter with Americans who helped end World War II in the Pacific.
Cordially, Georgia O’Keeffe (9:38)
by Alan O’Hashi and Diana Helzer
During the summer of 1917, artist Georgia O'Keeffe and her sister, Claudia, came by train from West Texas to Ward, Colorado. They stayed at a cabin owned by Hazel Schmoll. This short is based on a thank you note Miss O'Keeffe sent to Mrs. Schmoll. The original project research determined that the prizefighter Miss O'Keeffe befriended was featherweight Abe Attell, who boxed out of Nederland. He is most known for participating in the 1919 World Series cheating scandal involving the Chicago White Sox.
Frozen Dead Guy Days (26:00)
by Bruce Borowsky and Mike Scalisi
In the quirky mountains of Colorado, people from all over the world gather to throw a party annually for a frozen dead guy, a yearly celebration of costumed weirdos looking to drink, dance, race coffins, and dive into a frozen lake.
