Due to unforeseen circumstances, Jon Jon Wesolowski, The Happy Urbanist, had to cancel his appearance at our event on June 3.

Happily, we're on track for an even bigger, better event - our first Connect Boulder Summer Social - with three dynamic speakers, fun activities, and our Business After Hours happy hour. Our special guests will focus on how intentional connections between land use and transportation can generate joyful places that function well for everyone.

Here's our schedule:

  • Pre-event opportunity: Arrive early, at 2:45 pm, to take a walk with the "Mayor" (mobility administrator of year-round offered resources) of Boulder Junction, Will Shepherd, to the proposed site of a new pocket park and playground in the neighborhood. We'll be giving all attendees sketchbooks with colored pencils, which you can use to envision a joyful space for Boulder Junction kids and families (or your own happy place!). The walk will happen from 3:00 to 3:15 pm. Meet Will at the Junction Place entrance of the Hyatt Place hotel.
  • Featured program
    • Beginning at 3:30 pm, we'll feature a conversation with Colorado Department of Transportation Executive Director, Shoshana Lew, looking back on her eight-year tenure and toward our state's multimodal future.
    • We'll then hear from City of Boulder Director of Transportation and Mobility, Blythe Bailey, who brings his skills and knowledge as an architect and urban designer to creating vibrant streets in Boulder.
    • Finally, we'll wrap up our program with a fireside chat with Kyle Wagenschutz, a partner at City Thread who has dedicated his career to accelerating community-engaged infrastructure projects that promote connection, well-being, and joy.
  • Business After Hours: Enjoy delicious appetizers from Zeal, sample Rev Kombucha, and enjoy drinks from the Hyatt Place bar while engaging with fun activities hosted by our Boulder Chamber partners.

You'll walk away with:

  • How Colorado has become a leader in multimodal infrastructure and statewide transit and where we're going
  • How Boulder's streets, neighborhoods, and public spaces are becoming more people-friendly and accessible
  • Ideas and inspiration you can actually use, whether you're a city planner, a business owner, a commuter, or simply someone who loves this city

Read our news post here for more details about our speakers and the special giveaways we're offering attendees!
