Position: Volunteer Manager

Schedule: Part-time, 20-25 hours/week

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:30am - 12:30pm

Wednesday: 8:30am - 3:30pm

Other hours as needed

Salary Range: $26-$28/hour

Harvest of Hope Pantry is looking for an enthusiastic, organized, and compassionate Volunteer Manager to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic group of volunteers who are committed to fighting food insecurity and making a real impact in the lives of individuals and families in need. About Harvest of Hope Pantry

Located in Boulder, CO, Harvest of Hope Pantry is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides healthy, supplemental food to families and individuals in a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment. Our programs include:


Shopping for people with and without kitchens (Mon-Fri, 9am-2pm; Tues & Thurs, 4:30-6:30pm)

Daily retail donation pickups

Weekly mobile pantries


As the Volunteer Manager, you'll be responsible for overseeing the entire volunteer program at Harvest of Hope Pantry. Your work will help create a welcoming environment for volunteers, ensuring they feel valued and supported in their roles. You'll also ensure smooth scheduling, training, and communication for volunteers, while continuously building and nurturing relationships within the community.


Key Responsibilities:


Recruit, Train, and Retain Volunteers:

Lead volunteer recruitment and orientation efforts, ensuring we have a strong, diverse team ready to serve our community.

Organize and lead volunteer training sessions and orientations to ensure new volunteers are equipped and excited to contribute.

Manage the scheduling of volunteers, making sure shifts are covered and adjusting for last-minute needs.

Volunteer Support & Coordination:

Act as the primary point of contact for volunteers, offering guidance and support as they assist with food distribution, mobile pantries, and special events.

Maintain accurate volunteer records and waivers using Volgistics and other volunteer management tools.

Communicate with volunteers regularly through email newsletters, phone calls, and in-person check-ins to foster engagement and appreciation.

Volunteer Recognition:

Plan and organize an annual volunteer appreciation event, along with occasional gestures throughout the year to celebrate the hard work of our volunteers.

Help create a positive, respectful, and inclusive culture for volunteers of all backgrounds.

Administrative & Reporting Duties:

Track volunteer hours, manage databases, and generate reports to ensure smooth operations.

Work closely with staff members to ensure volunteers are effectively integrated into daily programs and special initiatives.

Community Outreach:

Represent Harvest of Hope Pantry at volunteer recruitment events and community outreach activities to raise awareness and recruit new volunteers.

Required Qualifications:


High degree of self-motivation and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Experience in customer service or volunteer coordination

A strong interest in economic inequality, food insecurity, and social justice issues

Ability to adapt to new systems and platforms (e.g., Volgistics, Google Suite, etc.)

Ability to interact respectfully with colleagues, volunteers, participants, and donors

Valid Colorado driver’s license with a clean driving record


Desired Qualifications:


Previous experience in a social services or nonprofit environment

Experience with volunteer management platforms (e.g., Volgistics, Salesforce, etc.)

Knowledge of communication platforms like Campaign Monitor, MailChimp, or Constant Contact

Fluency in Spanish is a plus

Experience in nonprofit development, events, and fundraising
