Position Summary

The Director of Resource Development is a strategic leader responsible for advancing the mission of Flatirons Habitat for Humanity by developing, managing, and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies with a strong emphasis on cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts. This position plays a pivotal role in securing the financial resources necessary to sustain and grow the organization’s programs and impact.


Key Responsibilities

Major Gifts Development

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of major donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations capable of making significant contributions.
  • Design and execute customized engagement plans for prospective and current major donors to deepen relationships and secure transformative gifts.
  • Develop and manage recognition and stewardship programs to retain and grow donor relationships over time.
  • Work closely HFHI Collaborative Fundraising to maximize program effectiveness.

 

Strategic Leadership

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director/CEO and Board of Directors to establish and achieve annual and multi-year fundraising goals.
  • Build and implement strategies for major gift pipelines, focusing on identifying new prospects and enhancing existing donor relationships.
  • Provide strategic input for capital campaigns, planned giving programs, and other high-priority initiatives.

 

Fundraising Operations and Oversight

  • Oversee the donor management system to track progress, analyze trends, and report on major gifts activities and results.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for the Board of Directors, Executive Team, and other stakeholders as needed.

 

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with construction staff to understand funding needs and craft aligned donor opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other development team members to ensure a unified and cohesive approach to donor engagement.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to staff and volunteers involved in major gift fundraising activities.


Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a proven track record of securing major gifts ($5,000+).
  • Experience managing donor portfolios and developing long-term donor relationships.


Skills and Competencies

  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to craft and deliver compelling donor proposals and presentations.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities, with attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of current philanthropic trends and best practices in major gift fundraising.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, with a high degree of initiative and accountability.
  • Professional demeanor, integrity, and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Strong knowledge of and familiarity with the Boulder Colorado philanthropic community and the ability to build on established relationships to advance Habitat’s mission.

 

Compensation and Benefits

Salary $85,000-$100,000, commensurate with experience
