I'm deeply committed to continuing to serve alongside our incredible Partners and dedicated staff who pour their hearts into SVP's transformative mission. As a board member, I'm energized by the opportunity to help expand our community of change-makers, bringing together even more talented Partners who share our passion for lifting up Boulder County nonprofits and empowering the community members they serve,” said Madeline Tomseth.

Barbara Truan brings decades of experience as an educator, nonprofit leader, corporate trainer, and connector. She has also led local nonprofits as Head of Jarrow Montessori School and Interim Executive Director at Cultivate in Boulder.

A dedicated SVP Partner since 2015, Barb has contributed extensively to SVP’s mission through her work on many teams and engagements, including the Invested Leaders group, Investment Selection Committee, Leadership Development, Impact Cohort, and co-leading the Board Development Resource Team. She has facilitated numerous board training workshops and assessments for local nonprofits, helping strengthen governance across the sector.

Barb has served on several nonprofit boards and is currently on the board of the Early Childhood Council of Boulder County (ECCBC). A true motivator and big-picture thinker, she’s known for her humor, optimism, and passion for bringing people together.

“Boulder has been very good to me, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to give back. I was first introduced to SVP while serving as interim Executive Director at Cultivate, and I was thrilled to rub elbows with such accomplished Partners. It gave me pause to appreciate the stimulation and inspiration I felt in their company. Making a difference has always been part of who I am, and I love being in an environment where that’s the norm. Connecting with and supporting local nonprofit Executive Directors allows me to keep growing while contributing to great ideas that deserve an extra boost to succeed. All in all, I am honored to be a part of the SVP Board,” said Barbara Truan.
